Christmas 2006

Christmas 2006 -

We had a great holiday season this year. With Charlie being old enough to open presents and sort of understand Santa Claus we had a lot of fun. It began with getting the tree in early December. I sat in the minivan nursing Bodhi while Rex and Charlie picked out a Grand Fir. We went small this year as our living room seems to have shrunk a bit due to the increasing amount of toys. Charlie helped hang the ornaments which for me is a lot of fun because I have been given an ornament every year of my life from my Mom. So looking at each year's ornament brings back memories of past Christmas's. This year we were able to attend a couple of fancy Christmas parties where the dress was semi-formal. We got babysitters, dressed up and got to enjoy ourselves without kids! What fun! Christmas Eve was fairly mellow - spent the afternoon at a friends house and later had my traditional Christmas Eve dinner of cheese fondue. That night "Santa" went to work setting up the Christmas train around the tree and setting out gifts and filling the stockings. Christmas morning Charlie woke up and was eager to see what Santa had brought. We let him open presents and his stocking until we were about halfway thru the gifts. Then it was time for a break to eat breakfast. After that we let him finish opening gifts and then it was play, play, play! Lots of new toys to check out. Later that afternoon Rex's family began to arrive for a traditional Christmas dinner - potluck style. Wrayal fried a turkey and others provided casseroles and traditional trimmings. We were so full that the apple pie was left uneaten. All in all it was a great day! Lots of fun, food and family.
